GEO 567 Land Use Planning and Analysis

Course Description (GEO 567):
Land use and planning pertain to the existing and preferred/optimal uses of land. Land, and urban land in particular, is a resource subject to a myriad of human and natural influences that require systematic consideration. The theme underlying much of the land use and planning course is sustainability. Istanbul represents a living laboratory for the investigation of sustainability-related issues and how they can be addressed through planning theories, practices, and techniques. A variety of emerging planning issues are also explored (e.g., edge cities, the New Urbanism, strategic environmental assessment).
