Course Objective:
Geographic information systems provide powerful new tools for real estate professionals.
GIS can improve the site selection, valuation and market analysis functions
for real estate development, brokerage and research firms. During the workshop,
instructor will demonstrate GIS capabilities, introduce readily available data
sources, and demonstrate GIS-based real estate applications. In addition to
providing an overview of GIS technology, this hands-on workshop will give participants
the opportunity to work with GIS software.

Geographic Information Systems
Class Participation
You are expected to attend class daily and participate in disucssions. This
means that if readings are required before coming to class you are expected
to be prepared to discuss the material. I conduct my class according to the
Socratic method and it is imperitive that you be able to discuss the material
intelligently. Attendance will be taken daily and participation noted. There
will be several exercises during the class and participation is also expected
for these events.
This Class and the Internet
The Internet is an integral part of this class. All the pertinent information
about my class is contained in my homepage I think you will find that the use
of the Internet for this class gives it incredible flexibility. . At anytime
day or night, you can access some of the most important elements of this class
and also send me e-mail. I check my e-mail frequently and you can often get
a quicker response than waiting for class or my normal office hours. In addition,
you can submit take-home exercises by e-mail.
E-mail Accounts
All students are required to have an active Fatih e-mail account. I
will only send and receive e-mażl through the Fatih e-mail system.,

91-100% = A
81-90% = B
71-80% = C
61-70% = D
<69%> = F
Cell Phones
All cell phones will be turned off during the class period
and during any other class activities (i.e., labs, field trips etc.) If you
violate this rule you will receive twenty (20) points off your final grade for
every violation. If you come to visit me during my office hours, your cell
phones should also be turned off.
Plagiarism
All reports and examinations will be in you own words. When
you use digital or analog material that is not authored by you, you must
put this material in quotes and reference it according to accepted methods of
referencing (i.e., Chicago Manual of Style.)
